We are delighted to announce that Jean Mills, a member of our Sopranos, has recently taken on the role of Secretary for Harrogate Theatre Choir. This is a challenging role and such an important one for our choir, involving a lot of organisation and management. We asked Jean to tell us a little bit about herself….
” I joined HTC in January 2015, having moved to Harrogate in 2013. From the beginning I found members to be welcoming and friendly. From a singing aspect, I love the variety of songs we sing. It is sometimes a challenge, and requires lots of hard work to achieve the high standard we all aim for.
I guess I have always enjoyed singing. In my younger days I was in school choirs and again, when working in a secondary school, where I joined the Senior choir, a mix of pupils and staff.
I do seem to have a habit of ending up on the Committee of whichever group I join!!
I always try to make time for walks, particularly rambling out in the countryside. Among my other interests are Pilates, reading, knitting and doing jigsaws. Spending time with family, in particular my two grandchildren, comes high on my list of pleasures, as does eating out.”
We all wish Jean every success as she takes on this important role.
