As 2025 draws to a close, Harrogate Theatre Choir reflects on an extraordinary year of musical celebration and community support, marking the choir’s 15th Anniversary with a series of entertaining performances and charitable contributions.
The choir kicked off its anniversary year with a memorable celebration concert ‘HTC15: The Musicals’ at The Crown Hotel in Harrogate. The concert was a sell-out success, combining songs from contemporary musicals such as ‘The Girls’, ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ and ‘Hamilton’, with some of the much loved classics from ‘Les Misérables’ and ‘Chess’. This opening concert not only showcased the choir’s talent, but also raised an impressive £850 for the Harrogate Homeless Project.
Throughout the year, the choir embarked on their ‘HTC15 The Musicals’ tour, bringing their concert to towns and villages across Yorkshire. The tour featured stops at notable venues like Masham Town Hall and Wetherby Town Hall, where audiences were treated to an impressive repertoire that evolved throughout the year.
Staying true to their commitment of giving back in 2025, Harrogate Theatre Choir used their platform to support local charitable causes at each concert. In Masham, the choir raised £250 for the Mashamshire Community Office, and in Wetherby, they presented a cheque for £400 to Martin House Children’s Hospice.
A Festive Finale
The anniversary year culminated in the choir returning to Harrogate with their much-anticipated festive event, ‘It’s THE Christmas Concert’, held on 13 December at the West Park Centre. This final concert of the year was in support of Dementia Forward. The choir made sure they wrapped up the celebrations in style by sprinkling plenty of festive magic on the audience, leaving them ready for the holiday season!
Musical Director, Catherine Field-Leather expressed the choir’s appreciation by commenting:
“Everyone at HTC extends their gratitude to the wonderful friends and followers who have supported us over the last fifteen years. A special thank you also goes out to the corporate sponsors and advertisers, whose generosity and support in 2025 have made this anniversary year truly memorable. Finally we say a sincere thank you to our Front of House volunteers, whose tireless efforts are fundamental to the success of our concerts. Our volunteers are an integral part of the HTC family and we are truly grateful for all they do.”
