We are delighted to announce that Beth Sowray has recently been elected to the important role of Treasurer.  This follows the decision of our previous Treasurer, and one of HTC’s founding members, Allison Richardson, to put away her abacus after 14 years in the role and just enjoy the singing!

We asked Beth to tell us a little bit about herself…..

I joined Harrogate Theatre Choir in September 2021 after feeling the need to reconnect with performing arts—a passion I had as a child but had drifted away from as an adult. From my very first rehearsal, I was met with such warmth and friendliness, despite the challenges of rehearsing during a pandemic, with masks on and maintaining social distance.

Singing musical theatre pieces has been a joy for me, and I really appreciate the challenges that come with tackling more complex songs. It pushes me to improve, and I’m proud to be part of such a talented and dedicated choir. I make it a point to practice diligently at home so that I can contribute to the choir’s high standards.

For me, joining the choir was about more than just singing—it was about carving out time for myself to do something I love, while also focusing on personal growth, commitment, and collaboration. My vocal skills and general well-being have definitely improved since becoming a part of HTC.

I was honoured to be asked to take on the role of treasurer after our previous treasurer stepped down. I’m incredibly grateful for all that HTC has given me, and I’m excited to give back in this new role.

We wish Beth every success in the role.
