We are delighted to announce that Harrogate Theatre Choir will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. As we look forward to this milestone, it’s a good time to reflect on how far we have come.

Back in 2010, a group of local singers had performed with a theatre company called Lip Service at Harrogate Theatre. After the performance, nine of the singers decided they would like to keep the choir going – and so, Harrogate Theatre Choir was born.

A major turning point in the choir’s development came in 2015 when Catherine Field-Leather joined us as Musical Director. Under Catherine’s guidance, and with her unique talents, passion for music and unwavering belief in us, the choir has gone from strength to strength. One of our 2019 highlights was performing at the Opening Ceremony of the UCI Road Cycling World Championships in Harrogate – a day we will all remember and a very proud moment for the choir.

HTC is now a 40+ strong choir with an ever-growing repertoire of songs. Choir members are from all different musical backgrounds but one thing remains unchanged – HTC is a very friendly and inclusive group. We all have one thing in common – we love to sing!

We will be celebrating our anniversary year with a Summer Concert on Saturday 4 July 2020 which we are very much looking forward to. Watch this space – the first HTC CD will be available later in the year, with some of the proceeds going to MIND in Harrogate. As you can see, we have a very exciting anniversary year ahead of us. We really hope that you will come along to our performances to celebrate with us!

Keep checking “Future Events” for further details of all our 2020 performances.
