The run up to Christmas was a mad cap time for Harrogate Theatre Choir, but we managed to spread a lot of festive cheer on our “Tour of Yorkshire”!

First up on the Christmas programme involved a small ensemble from the choir opening up the 2018/19 Panto run at Harrogate Theatre.   We thoroughly enjoyed performing a selection of festive songs “on the stairs” as the audience arrived for their annual panto fix.  (Photo credit Harrogate Theatre)

Next up was our Christmas Concert “A Box of Festive Delights” at Christchurch.  The evening was a heartwarming mix of carols old and new, humorous verse, and charming readings.  The audience definitely left in good spirits having been sprinkled with a little bit of Christmas sparkle!

Harrogate Theatre Choir then enjoyed a debut performance at the atmospheric medieval Holy Trinity Church in York.  This was the perfect setting for a festive evening of carols by candlelight.  The evening wasn’t without its dramas though.  A train cancellation left a few choir members stranded, but in true HTC fashion, everyone made it with minutes to spare and the evening was a great success!

The next stop on our Yorkshire tour was a “Music & Lights” event in the Cellarium at Fountains Abbey.  It was a typically nippy Yorkshire day but we had a wonderful audience who braved the winter temperatures to share our festive joy.

Castle Howard was the venue of our final Christmas performance of 2018 when we performed in the Long Gallery.  A wonderful audience, a magnificent stately home, beautiful Christmas decorations… was an amazing afternoon and visitors to Castle Howard were in a very festive mood and sang their hearts out with us.

We also managed to entertain travellers in a morning sing-song at Leeds Railway Station and also gave a Christmas performance at The Crown in Harrogate…….phew!
