Originally from Halifax, W. Yorkshire Judy’s family moved to S.E.London when she was 10. She later studied Piano and Viola at the Royal Academy of Music, going on to teach at one of the “New” Comprehensive Schools, where all children had to learn recorder or harmonica (so did the teachers!).
Judy married David in 1960; had a break from School to have two children during which time she taught piano and worked with the local Church Choir.
She returned to school work, eventually reaching Head of Music in yet another comprehensive, then had a Career Change in 1978 into the licensed trade; a pub in Suffolk, a golf club in Sheffield and finally Pannal Golf Club in Harrogate!
Over a number of years Judy worked as Rehearsal Pianist for Knaresborough Music Society, St. Andrews Players, Harrogate Operatics, Phoenix Players and briefly G and S; She taught piano pupils and also led a Music Group At St. Peter’s Church; played for Treble Clef, Cadenza and also in Bettys!
She says ‘I was lucky to start as accompanist when HTC began in 2010 and I am extremely happy to play for them still!’
